While all I ever ever preach is for a person to have his or her own style, I still desperately love fashion. Without it we would still be dressed in something out of the dark ages. I always try to figure out from all the style shows and fashion magazines, what it is that I can take away from the photos and ideas that do not seem to fit into my life. Ah! but there are ideas and plenty of them if you  just have to learn to read between the lines. Here is one thing I have taken away this year: COLOR. Color and big bold splashes of it is everywhere, I love color, I have worked with color my whole life. The trick to color is to make sure it goes with first your skin tone, then you hair and last but not least your eyes. When investing in color for work, make sure it's appropriate to your particular office or position. Tomorrow: what styles am I looking at. You also want to make sure you have other items to wear with this one. Invest in one or two pieces not a whole wardrobe, next year you may not like it.

This past week-end I saw the Matt Damon, Emily Blunt movie "Adjustment Bureau".The movie was fun, another one of those movies that your not exactly sure what they are trying to say but it was fun to watch. The interesting part for me was the scene where Matt Damon's character has lost the election and he was giving his concession speech. He talked about all the people he had paid to tell him how to dress while a candidate, that they had even paid $7000.00 to an expert to tell him just how much shine his shoes should have. While this is only a movie you know this does happen in real life and that it's apparent just how important our looks are, and how important taking care of the details of our appearance is. So go forth and dress your best, and make sure your grooming is impeccable.

We baby boomer's, represent 28% of the population. We are a little more than a third of the population but, trying to go shopping for age appropriate clothing for us. It's a real challenge. We have money and it's not that we don't want to look nice but it's frustrating to shop when there is nothing for us. Clothing lines and companies are really missing out on some valuable clients by not providing for us. I think we need to start speaking up.

I have been gone this past week in Mexico, it's been a long winter here in Minnesota. Sometimes you just need to get out.
I am back now though and more eager than ever to start blogging again. As always when you travel you get to meet and see lots of other people and you also get to see what they are wearing. I have to say there is a lot of really fun fashion statements out there and a lot of really bad fashion statements out there and it doesn't seem to matter where your from, even Europeans on vacation dress horribly. So my next few blogs will talk about what has happened to our self respect as it relates to how we look each day.
