In the business enviroment Brown is considered credible, grounded, solid. It may not be the best choice for the sale, but after the sale when you need to finish getting details or information. It's also good for gather information, or gathering statistics that you may need for a project. There are some really beautiful browns search for really great fabrics that favor the color or go for a tweed, something that is consider solid.

I am going to interrupt my series on colors, for this blog. Because I think this topic is of great importance in fact I will probably continue to present this topic. It's call Personal Branding which entails several things. First and foremost it's all about your professional attire, and how you appear each and everyday at work and at social events ( and I am even talking about your kids ball games). With you profile and photos on Linkedin, Facebook, Plaxco and any number of other sites, you can only afford to represent yourself in the best possible light and your message needs to be consistent. For your work wardrobe everything needs to be clean, pressed and in the best condition and it needs to fit like it was made for you. I do not mean for you to go out and buy the most expensive outfit or uit, but purchase the best you can afford and then make sure it's always clean, pressed and that it has been altered to fit you if that is needed. Be appropriate to your work sitituatoin as well, be age appropriate, and career appropriate. Provacative does not belong in the work place or on any of your networking sites. It's your responsibility to represent yourself in the best possible light, so you gain and keep the respect of others.

I wish Earth Day was every single day of the year for everyone what a wonderful world it would be.
So let's talk though about wearing Green in the work place. Weel, it's as you might suspect Green is very calming, it represents success and wealth (what color is money?) especially the darker the green. Green causes people to relax and trust, which is why they have greeen rooms for people waiting to go on stage. So Save the Earth and wear Green.

Orange is one of the first colors you notice when looking at a group of colors, it very similar to red in that it has a high emotional power. It indicates warmth and a strong personality. Don't wear to much of it though, as it will turn off your clients. Have a great day.

Last Monday there was an article in the business section of the Minneapolis Star and Tribune on my Image Consulting business. Well, needless to say I have been swamped with phone calls and emails. It's been great. Unfortunately I have not blogged in a few days. So here goes with another color.
PINK, a vibrant, bright pink is exciting and passionate. Pale pink does not have the same affect, in fact it's a low energy color, they sometimes use pink on the walls in prison to help calm the population there.

This past Tuesday I presented at a "Get Hired" event at a local college. I idea was to circulate around to various stations or table and ask questions about the person's area of expertise, which of course mine was business dress. One young man told the story about having been interviewed, being down to the last two choices, and in the end not being hired. Why he asked the HR person did he not get hired over the other choice?. His response, "because his shoes were polished and yours were not" Lesson learned: It's all about the detail we put into our dressing ourselves.

Yellow is know to be sunny, a goodwill color and it helps with concentration. Maybe that is why those legal pads are yellow. You need to use yellow wisely though, too much or too intense and it cause some people to over react possibly even making them angry. Try buttery soft yellows, and stay away from the citrusy intense ones at least in the work enviroment.

The Greys are not your new next door neighbor, they are the colors or shades of color that say business, business, business. Charcoal grey beats all other colors hands down when it comes to being a professional especially in the world of finance. The darker the Gray the more power it denotes. So go forth and conquer. Don't forget to wear a white shirt if you really want to wow them. Color takes it down a notch.
