Thirty percent of baby boomers ages 45-64 are single and in the dating market. They have money to spend, they go out dancing, to picnics, private parties, movies, and restaurants. They have fun, they go places. That being said why are clothing manufactures not making cool clothing for this large market. We don't want to look like kids but we do want to look hip and current. Add Comment I am very excited to announce that I am a new J. Hilburn Style Adviser here in the Metro Area. This is great news for my men clients, I can come to you at your place of work, with clothing selections that are then custom made just for you. No more malls, department stores and ordering online for items that don't really fit, aren't a great style for you and the colors...yuck. You can now have something you have created for yourself. These clothes are for the polished man. I am also on a quest for the women of the world who are 12, 14, 16 and more in size. I am talking some really great styles designed for your size and your body type in beautiful fabrics, colors and textures. Items that fit your life style and your needs. Very soon I will be starting a series of videos for women past the age of forty that want clothes that don't make them look like the borrowed from their daughters closet. Stay tuned. Life is good. This is so easy and so environmental it's not funny. I had a quilted pillowcase that I love. I washed it using a product that should have taken the stain out. Alas, it did not. Then I remember an old trick my Grandmother taught me. I took the white pillowcase outside laid it in the grass and poured water on the spot, I let it sit there for a large portion of the SUNNY day. Well, guess what the yellow is gone. Yep, there is something that happens when you lay white on the grass along with the sun shine and the water, not sure of the chemical reaction but it's gone. I wrote a story on collecting and selling vintage clothing. The article appears in this blog posting. http://www.simplelivingfamily.com/?p=1312 Please check it out. "It truly is a privlidge working with Linda. Her comprehensive background in garment construction and extensive experience styling the "stars" is a perfect combination in working with her clients. To have her depth of knowledge, creativity and professionalism at such reasonable rates is unbelivable. After working with her on my own wardrobe, I hired Linda to overhaul my husbands closet and shop with him. We had a ball doing this and the results were exactly what he (we) needed and wanted. We just wish she could be with us every time we shopped!" Service Category: Image Consultant Year first hired: 2010 (hired more than once) Top Qualities: Great Results, Expert, Good Value There are a lot of people doing a lot of things these days, working two jobs, looking for what to do or be next. I am often impressed by some people's ability to do so many different things. Then I have to stop and ask myself, do they do all of these things well? I have spent most of my working career dressing people for various events, stage, film, photos the list goes on. That is pretty much all I have done. I would like to caution someone when looking for an expert, look at the whole picture and see what their expertise really is and then make a decision on who is the most qualified. Don't blindly hire someone because they have gone to school for something or say they are an expert, hire someone with a track record. You will get the best results. This is the worst summer for weather I can remember for awhile. So what to do? I know retailers are hurting because there are sales all over the place. Which is good for us, but here are some thing to remember. Buy only what goes with three other things in your closet. Make sure it's a color and a fit you can wear. If you could create your own clothing line, what would it look like, and who would be your demographic for it. Would you create for both men and women or just one? Would you have it be high end, in the middle, or inexpensive? Would you make it so it was easily altered? What ten pieces of clothing would you chose to create first? A purse is a girl's best friend for sure. You can keep all your secrets in one place, no one else would ever dare to go in your purse without your permission. So of the most amazing lines of purses are, HOBO, Marc Jacobs, J. Crew, Banana Republic, Worth Collection, and of course Chanel. These purse collections almost always have winners, but then I like my purses to have clean lines and minimal detail. I am a Levi kinda girl, so when I have on great shoes, an amazing purse, a simple top and my jeans, I am a happy girl. Well, I am not the weatherman, and this year I am glad I am not. Sweaters at least in some parts of the country seem to be the way to go, and other place less is more. No matter what your clime is at the time, dress for success anyway. Don't let the weather make you sloppy or indifferent to what you are wearing. Dress for the day and the event. |
