It's going to be really cold tomorrow, from 80 degrees today to around 45-50 tomorrow. I have a new sweater so here is what I will be wearing. My Levi's 505 and the J. Crew, French Hen sweater with my J. Crew Selvedge shirt. Rock on.
PERFECT
We have two more days of warm weather and then the cold hits. I have been pulling pots in from the garden as the plants seem to be sensing the change of scenery too. No matter I am ready for winter, I am actually kinda tired of my warm weather clothes so a change in the closet is just as welcome. This jacket is synthetic but it's so warm I love having it for the cold. If I add my selvedge chambray shirt and it's a great casual about town outfit. Add a little color with a red belt and a autumn scarf.
CASUAL
Dressy
This is my favorite fall/winter blazer/jacket. In the fall it's an outerwear in the winter it's a blazer. It's wool tweed, double breasted men's wear inspired jacket. I wear it with almost every shirt in my closet but I love this look for fall. Black and white gingham shirt plays off the tweed jacket, the scarf is a real beauty, being full of fall colors. The necklace just adds a little sunshine to the day. Pink belt plays off the scarf and the jeans are 505's by Levi's with a flat roll at the hem. If the days turns warm I still have a great look with the shirt and the scarf. Oh Yeah.
This rocks the look and so does the red purse with the cordovan colored shoes. Either works it's a fun look.
The red purse works with the scarf colors so do the shoes.
Ok, I did it again. I did not post anything yesterday sorry. Saturday's are so hectic, so forgive me if I do not accomplish my blog on Saturday. These four sweaters are all the same style, just different colors, khaki, dark grey, pale pink and heather grey. These sweaters are my favorite I wear them with any or all of my jeans but I also where them with my pencils skirts. When you find something that fits, it's one of the first things you go to to wear, by all means buy several. I usually keep my eye for a sale or a discount. These are of course from J. Crew, they don't really have this style any more but it's a classic, and if kept in good shape I will have them for a long time. I have chosen these colors because I can mix them with any of my shirts. That is the key to buying multiples, they each need to go with at least three things already in your closet.
This is how I got them. They were the stiffest pair of jeans or anything else for that matter that I had ever purchased. But they were vintage and Made in America.
I brought these with me on a trip to the lake for the week-end. I put them on dry and proceed to go into the lake with these pants on. I sat in the sand and rubbed my bottom and legs in it. I took hands full of sand and scrubbed the fronts. I did this three time that week-end while there. I then washed them three more times in cold water in the washing machine and hung to dry. They are perfect now, I love them. Only a person truly dedicated to having a pair of these would go through that but for me it was fun.
I love red, which you already know if you follow me. This sweater has a lot of say on it's own, so when accessorizing, I use something that is in another color range but can hold it own against the red. The animal print belt makes it fun and interesting, to match red everywhere else would be a disaster.
Modern red J. Crew Tippi sweater, bubble necklace in a color no longer sold and J. Crew animal print belt. The Levi's are the Made In America Vintage boys jeans. You would not believe what I had to do to get them to fit. I would do a soft roll at the hem.
Very casual and yet works with this outfit.
These booties are my favorite shoes, even though they are reddish I can still wear them with this sweater. They are so muted in color.
I have to apologize week-ends are always so busy and I never thought I would not be able to post yesterday but alas it did not happen. So here is Day Six and Day Seven back to back.
This is my favorite sweater of all time, it's from J. Crews collection from two years ago. It's Merino Wool, even the lace is wool. I wore it this past January when I got married. I always save it for going out when jeans are ok, but I want to look a little more dressed up. The necklace is always a favorite I have two of these J. Crew Bubble necklaces the red and a blue grey. I love how big it is and the red makes me happy. The jeans are Levi's 505 from Kohl's.
Hobo red bag and these Farylrobin shoes are so comfortable even to dance in. I love the retro feel without looking like I bought from a museum.
Red Hobo bag with my Italian boots. Either of these purse/shoes combos work for me in terms of looking dressy. They are both very stylist and yet I can dance up a storm. I love Fridays.
Hydroquinone This can be found in skin lighteners and facial moisturizers, it's a known neurotoxin and allergenic. Do you want his in your products?
Colder weather hit Minnesota during the night last night. It was cold walking Henry this morning. This is a great easy to throw on look for me. The sweater is a khaki green it hits just below the behind. I add the trim which I copied from a magazine picture or something (I do this a lot). I always get a lot of great comments about the sweater. The scarf is a very soft cotton knit from a French line of clothing, which J. Crew carries some of the pieces. The roll of the jeans should be small and soft, to stay in keeping the softness of the outfit.
I can wear either the black purse by Marc Jacobs with my Italian boots, or my brown purse with brown hiking boots. I could put ballet flats with this outfit as well, to make it more girly.
Banana Republic cotton sweater that I add trim too. (I copied the idea ok?) Levi's with a gold thin belt which will not be seen. A Saint James knit scarf again from J. Crew.
Brown Banana Republic purse, many years old but cared for. Italian boots, I love these guys, they go with everything.
I love rolling the bottom of my jeans, I always think it makes it look like I pay a little extra attention to how I wear them. The first pair on the left has a simple twice fold over roll, in this case it shows that these jeans are cut on the selvedge which makes them special. The middle pair has a roll that is a little less formed (it's how J. Crew does it) it's actually harder to achieve because of the unevenness of it. Yhe third on the right is a big cuff look, just make sure your jeans are long enough for this. You do not want to look like your trying to be overly young.
