Even as you age, you still need to have fun with your clothes, this lady Linda Rodin is a prime example of how to do it.

This velvet coat like items, is a personal favorite. I wear it over a very thin lightweight cashmere sweater, and then this beautiful multi string necklace. I wear this during the day time as well as at night otherwise it does not get worn much. I have always like the idea of dressy with not dressy in the same outfit, I have dressed like that for years. I would probably not wear the necklace if I were to wear this during the day for a work attire. Perfect with my 505 Levi's from Kohl's.

This is a great evening look, however if it's more dressy I would chose one of my evening bags and not this big one.

It was a long big week-end so I owe all you my followers an apology for not posting my blog this week-end. Either there wasn't time or I was too tired. This is one of my favorite outfits. I love this layered ruffle jacket in navy grosgrain/ It's comfortable and depending on the jewelry it can be dressed up or dressed down. These are the kinds of jacket you should look for one that suits many needs, times of day and formalities. That way you get your money's worth. I have it styled here with a rhinestone necklace, but if I were to wear it for everyday I would just leave it plain or add a smaller necklace. The red belt is in keeping with the red lining trim, even though you probably will only see a peak of the belt
Remember that straight legged jeans are the most flattering for the most body types. .

Red Hobo bag and vintage red high heels, I can get away with all this red because the outfit is so somber in color.

As you go through this journal of denim styles here are some things to remember to make it pertinent to you. First of all I only buy styles that look good on me and that look like my personality. I only buy clothes that fit, if they don't I have them altered by my good friend Marina. I have a color palette that is kind to my skin tone that I stick to, a lot of khaki brown, grey, soft pinks, red, and white. I stay away from a lot of black it' does not favor my skin color. Everything in my closet for the most part goes with at least three other things . I have three summer purses and four winter purses, which is not a lot by today's standard. I do have a lot of jewelry and a small scarf collection. All my accessories look like me, tend towards fashion more than not and add that extra punch that I so love.

Chambray over shirt can be worn alone or with a shirt underneath. I copied a J. Crew item. Another pair of 506 from Kohl's and the famous J. Crew red skinny belt. White J. Crew Blouse.
I  made this over shirt, I love to sew although I have been making more simple things. I use to sew for the Guthrie Theatre, I would even make my own coats. I don't do that so much anymore. This shirt is great I can wear it as a top or as pictured here over a shirt, almost any shirt in my closet will work. I would put a simple two roll at the bottom of the jeans for this look, keeping it simple and classic. I can wear just about any combination of purse and shoes that I have to this outfit, because it's so simple, classic and the fabrications go with anything.

I love rolling the bottom of my jeans, I always think it makes it look like I pay a little extra attention to how I wear them. The first pair on the left has a simple twice fold over roll, in this case it shows that these jeans are cut on the selvedge which makes them special. The middle pair has a roll that is a little less formed (it's how J. Crew does it) it's actually harder to achieve because of the unevenness of it. Yhe third on the right is a big cuff look, just make sure your jeans are long enough for this. You do not want to look like your trying to be overly young.

The detergent companies are not going to like me, but that is ok, I don't really need them too. I have all of you. I have been dealing in clothing pretty much my whole life, I started sewing when I was five and then spent years doing wardrobe in the film and entertainment business. "Clothes were Me". Let's just say I have done a lot of laundry, a lot of laundry and here is one thing I know for sure. You do not need all that detergent to get your clothes clean, nor do you need all those dryer sheets to keep clothes static free. I swear the more detergent you use the more dryer sheets you need. So here is my advise based on experimentation on my part alone.
You need about 1/3 of the amount of detergent that is suggested on the bottle or box of soap. Most clothes will come clean with cold water, really only construction workers need hot or warm water. People who prepare food might want to use warmer water too but heat from water helps to set stains making them harder to get out.
Now once you have reduced your detergent you won't need to use a new dryer sheet every time you dry your clothes. You can use the sheets for several loads and because you use less detergent you won't need all those chemicals for the dryer like you once did.
I told you I can help you save money on laundry. Tomorrow some eco friendly products that get rid of dirt, stains and leave your clothes and the environment clean and chemical free.

What is dressing "out of the box"? To me it's taking classic clothing and putting a spin on it. Not one piece of the outfit is outrageous, it's the way the people put it together that makes "it"Happen, makes it "out of the box."
I love the website Sartorialist it's all about street fashion, what people do with their clothes in real life. Here is the link.  http://www.thesartorialist.com/. If you love clothes and not just fashion it's definitely the place to go for great ideas. Looking dapper, being classic but a bit out of the box is what it's all about. Below is a young women in Europe, now I am not promoting smoking, (absolutely not) just what a great look, putting together total classic pieces but the use of color is what makes it "out of the box."

Want to show up for that date looking amazing. Even if you married you should raise the bar once in awhile so let's try some fun stuff with some great color to it,

These Pierre Hardy shoes are amazing and pretty darn sexy too.

I love the center one especially. Just incorporate one of these items in your wardrobe and it's a sure winner.

I am recommending you try these products, they look amazing. I just ordered mine and can't wait to try them. The creator is a model you will recognize, she is an amazing older model who loves her age and loves helping women realize their potential. There is no "junk" or bad chemicals in the ingredients and it is not animal tested (even more important). If they have to test something on animals do not buy it.
