I did not forget about you I have been very busy working and social stuff. It's good to be busy but then I miss this. This past week-end I copied a J.Crew top. It was actually quite simple here is what it looks like, the real things not the copy. This was the outfit, it really looked classy, my husband loved it. I wore this with my Levi's 505's. Add Comment This is my favorite fall/winter blazer/jacket. In the fall it's an outerwear in the winter it's a blazer. It's wool tweed, double breasted men's wear inspired jacket. I wear it with almost every shirt in my closet but I love this look for fall. Black and white gingham shirt plays off the tweed jacket, the scarf is a real beauty, being full of fall colors. The necklace just adds a little sunshine to the day. Pink belt plays off the scarf and the jeans are 505's by Levi's with a flat roll at the hem. If the days turns warm I still have a great look with the shirt and the scarf. Oh Yeah. It was a long big week-end so I owe all you my followers an apology for not posting my blog this week-end. Either there wasn't time or I was too tired. This is one of my favorite outfits. I love this layered ruffle jacket in navy grosgrain/ It's comfortable and depending on the jewelry it can be dressed up or dressed down. These are the kinds of jacket you should look for one that suits many needs, times of day and formalities. That way you get your money's worth. I have it styled here with a rhinestone necklace, but if I were to wear it for everyday I would just leave it plain or add a smaller necklace. The red belt is in keeping with the red lining trim, even though you probably will only see a peak of the belt Remember that straight legged jeans are the most flattering for the most body types. . It's such a beautiful morning this morning, the sky is a most beautiful blue, this is the time of year when it goes from hoy to cold, cold to hot, day to day. It makes it harder to decide the day before what to wear. I like to layer so I can add or subtract from my outfit, makes it easier this time of year. So with that here is the next outfit. The purses I have been choosing and the shoes at well are a little more fall then summer, just remember that is the season we are looking forward to. I have chosen a necklace that is more somber in colors to go with the darker navy sweater. Oh, yes and here is a tip on denim or jeans. If you love a pair of jeans and they fit everywhere but the waist get them. You can have them altered to fit, easily. I usually have them take a bit out at the back behind the loop. I have them the waistband taken in more at the top of the band then at the bottom. This makes the waistband curve ever so slightly inwards so you don't have that gap in the back when sitting down. WOW. I love rolling the bottom of my jeans, I always think it makes it look like I pay a little extra attention to how I wear them. The first pair on the left has a simple twice fold over roll, in this case it shows that these jeans are cut on the selvedge which makes them special. The middle pair has a roll that is a little less formed (it's how J. Crew does it) it's actually harder to achieve because of the unevenness of it. Yhe third on the right is a big cuff look, just make sure your jeans are long enough for this. You do not want to look like your trying to be overly young. We use accessories to make us individuals, especially for men, as your clothing does not change much in shape and style. I am always preaching the classics as we get older but we still want to look like we have a spring in our step when it comes to style. Use scarves, hats, cufflinks, ties, and shoes to change up a look. GO FOR IT GUYS, HAVE SOME FUN WHEN YOU GET READY TO GO OUT AND ABOUT. Of course we all know how to shop right? But do we really I am not so sure, so below are some great ideas for shopping. 1. Always spend your biggest money on the classics, in both styling and Color. 2. Define your style and stick to it. Wear what you love; what makes you comfortable, what makes you feel expresses you. Stay true to this and the wardrobe will follow. Shop with the motto, love it or leave it. 3. Understand your body type and shop accordingly, learn what looks best and never compromise. 4. Don’t go on fishing expeditions, go but don’t buy unless it’s perfect. 5. Go to the stores you know have your styles and what works for you. 6. Look for color and fabric first, then silhouette, then size. 7. Think outfit, not item. Before buying the new items think about what other items it can be worn with. If you don’t have anything don’t buy it, it needs to go with at least three other things. 8. Get help from a professional stylist. 9. Insist on fit; otherwise take it to your alterations person. So factor in that cost always. Even your jeans can be altered 10. Buy the best you can afford. You don’t need a lot of stuff when you have the right stuff. 11. Vintage** Vintage can give you a unique look, but always try everything on Sizes were different back then. Again, make sure it fits with your style and goes with other items you already have. 12. Make your larges purchase first, in other words, buy the suit or coat first then the accessories. If you want to be fashionable do it with accessories, or just a few items to add to your already “styled” wardrobe. When I do closet clean outs I see a lot of hang tags still on clothing in closets. Buying outside the box can be very costly. Stick to what suits you best for overall look, then go crazy with the accessories, jewelry, scarves, some handbags and shoes can really bring you the fashion your looking for. The Brits sure do love their Queen and why not. She is so regal, so stoic and has taken her role with so much dignity. I was so impressed with how much they really love her and she her country. Hats off to the Brits. And then there was Annie Lennox a personal favorite of mine, one of many entertaining the Queen, wearing Angel wings. Both ladies talented and wonderful. It't no secret I am an animal lover, so much so that sometimes even my husband wonders what he's married. Animals are a gift and how we treat them says a lot about us. Yesterday there was a story about the cosmetic line Benefit on the morning news. Of course I checked to see if they tested their products on animals. They apparently don't like to answer that question. I sent them an email asking them if they do indeed test on animals I will let you know when I get a reply. Remember if a product needs to be tested on an animal it means there is something in it that is not good for you. They just want to make sure it's not that toxic or harmful. Shame on any company that does animal testing. More to come. |
